DPI Precollege Scholarship Program


Program Description: The DPI Precollege Scholarship Program provides funds to students eligible for free/reduced lunch for the purpose of helping students to have the experience of being on a college campus and taking advantage of a variety of precollege program academic offerings in public, independent, and technical colleges. The Precollege Scholarship helps students get a head start in college preparation. The program helps students:

  • Academic skill building
  • Build self-confidence
  • Handle new challenges
  • Shape and strengthen basic skills
  • get equipped for success in college and career
  • Provides an opportunity to participate in approved postsecondary precollege programs in Wisconsin

The goal of Precollege is to encourage and prepare students to attend college after high school. More than 40,000 Wisconsin teens have enjoyed their first taste of higher education by attending precollege programs around the state.

Eligibility: Students in grades 6 through 12 who have been admitted to a precollege program to attend courses at campuses in Wisconsin. The program reimburses the campus.

Funds Available: $ 2.1 million per fiscal year. The scholarship pays for the cost of registration, books, supplies, room, and board.

Application Due Date: Variable, depending on the individual 150 programs participating annually.
