1. REIMBURSEMENT OF COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE NATIONAL BOARD PROCESS
After receiving their certificate and within the first year of its effective date, National Board Certified Teachers (NBCTs) who are
- employed as teachers in Wisconsin public schools and licensed by the state superintendent or
- employed as a teacher in a private school located in Wisconsin
may apply to the department for reimbursement of up to $2,000 for expenses they incurred related to the process of becoming NBPTS certified. This may include partial costs of the application fees that were not subsidized. The department will mail the reimbursement form to NBCTs upon notification from NBPTS of certified Wisconsin teachers. The claim for reimbursement of expenses related to NBPTS certification must be submitted prior to June 30th of the school year in which the NBCT received certification or, if certified in another state, upon meeting all eligibility requirements.
2. NINE YEAR ANNUAL GRANT

- maintain their certification by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards,
- maintain their state license as a teacher and remain employed as a teacher in this state, or
- remain employed as a teacher in a private school located in this state
are eligible to apply for a $2,500 annual grant in each of the subsequent nine years of the effective dates of their NBPTS Certificate. Beginning in the 2007-08 school year, NBCTs who are employed as teachers in a high poverty school are eligible for a $5,000 annual grant. Applications must be completed and returned by June 30.
