6. Fall Superintendents and WEMTA Conferences, and More Upcoming Events

September 15 is the application deadline to present at the Wisconsin Educational Media & Technology Association (WEMTA) Spring Conference, March 22-24, 2009, in Madison. Library media specialists, educational technology advocates, teachers, and administrators will gather to hear keynote speaker Michael Wesch, creator of the YouTube sensation "Web 2.0 ... The Machine is Us/ing Us." Other highlights are the biennial Author Fair and a visit to the Capitol.

September 17-19 brings the 2008 Fall Superintendents Conference, presented by the Wisconsin Association of School District Administrators in cooperation with State Superintendent Elizabeth Burmaster. Burmaster's State of Education Address is part of the conference. Participants will also have the opportunity to hear a talk by Dan Domenech, the new executive director of the American Association of School Administrators.

Monday, September 22, is "Family Day - A Day to Eat Dinner with Your Children," sponsored by the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse. Research finds that the more often children eat dinner with their families, the less likely they are to smoke, drink, or use drugs.

These events and more can be found on the Wisconsin Education Calendar.
